Tuscany is the most important wine-producing region in Italy, comparable to Bordeaux in France. The local grape variety, Sangiovese, produces classic red wines, all classified as DOCG. Some are enjoyable in their youth, but the majority of these wines will improve and develop with age. This region of Italy considers Sangiovese one of the noblest grape varieties in Italy and the world.
