Colline Lucchese is a Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC) in Tuscany, near the city of Lucca, a jewel of the Italian Renaissance. The region has historically been a cradle of red wine production and was granted DOC status in 1968. The appellation serves as a testing ground for non-traditional grape varieties. Canaiolo, Cieliegiolo, and Aleatico are used, but only Sangiovese and Merlot are included in the official appellation. The wines of this appellation offer incredible elegance and depth: Tuscan wines that surprise with their remarkable finesse.
