Producer

Producer

The Domaine E. Guigal vineyard is situated on the steep slopes of Hermitage, where the soil is composed of rolled pebbles and clay. This unique geological configuration allows for excellent drainage and promotes the concentration of aromas in the grapes. The Mediterranean climate, with continental influences, ensures optimal ripening of the grape varieties. The vines, some several decades old, are cultivated with meticulous care, resulting in grapes of exceptional quality, a true reflection of this exceptional terroir.

Owner and history

Today managed by Marcel and Philippe Guigal, the estate perpetuates the legacy of Etienne Guigal. The two generations work in harmony to preserve the estate's reputation while also innovating. Passionate about their craft, they have strengthened the winery's international renown, making Guigal wines essential benchmarks. Their commitment to quality and respect for the terroir is reflected in every bottle, a testament to a unique expertise passed down from father to son.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Guigal is a handcrafted process that begins with the grapes being hand-harvested, ensuring rigorous selection. After delicate destemming, the grapes undergo fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, allowing for the extraction of aromas while preserving freshness. The wine is then aged in oak barrels, some of which are new, for approximately 18 to 24 months. This barrel aging enriches the wine with woody notes while subtly integrating the tannins. Each step is carried out with meticulous care, paying homage to the terroir and winemaking tradition.
