The Château Sociando-Mallet vineyard covers approximately 83 hectares of vines, situated on an exceptional terroir of deep gravel and clay. These soils, ideal for growing Cabernet Sauvignon, allow the grapes to reach perfect ripeness while retaining a beautiful freshness. The temperate oceanic climate, influenced by the proximity of the Gironde estuary, plays a key role in the balance of the wines, promoting a slow and even ripening of the berries.

Owner and history

Since 1969, Jean Gautreau has breathed new life into Château Sociando-Mallet, elevating it to the ranks of the finest unclassified growths of the Médoc. Today, his daughter Sylvie and grandson Arthur continue his work with the same exacting standards. Their vision is based on the excellence of the terroir, respect for the vines, and precise winemaking, resulting in wines that are profound, authentic, and true to their appellation. Their long-term commitment and refusal to compromise have allowed the estate to maintain an authentic signature, recognized and appreciated by discerning wine lovers.

Vinification and aging

The wine is made using traditional methods, with fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, allowing for gentle tannin extraction. Aging takes place in French oak barrels (60% new) for 12 to 15 months, giving the wine a beautiful aromatic complexity and excellent aging potential.
