" Champ Caïn Grand Cru 2014 is a Champagne of extreme precision. Long aging on the lees has given it a magnificent texture and great complexity. Dried pear, chamomile, dried flowers, and delicate hazelnut notes enhance this 2014 vintage. With a little time in the glass, the more mineral and austere profile of Avize begins to express itself. The zero-dosage style works perfectly in this ethereal and precise Champagne. Antonio Galloni, Vinous, 95 points/100
" A creamy style with buttery aromas of lemon curd, a brioche-like character, and an almost cheesy depth. A fine mousse. On the palate, a light texture carried by a lively, zesty, and lemony acidity. A fresh finish with mineral accents . James Suckling, 93 points/100
Jacquesson Avize Champ Caïn 2014 Champagne is an exceptional wine from the Grand Cru terroir of Avize . This Blanc de Blancs , made entirely from Chardonnay grapes, is extra-brut, meaning it has very little sugar.
Jacquesson is one of the oldest Champagne houses . Boasting a rich heritage, it is often cited as having been a favorite of Emperor Napoleon . For several decades, Jacquesson has been an essential reference for collectors.
Located in the town of Dizy , north of Épernay, the house was run by the Chiquet brothers until the end of 2022, when François Pinault acquired this gem.
Jacquesson's small size (250,000 bottles/year), its strong winemaking culture and its image as a "champagne for connoisseurs" perfectly match the philosophy of Artemis Domaines (the properties of Pinault, owner of Château Latour in Bordeaux and Clos de Tart in Burgundy).
The house built its modern and pioneering reputation through the creation of numbered, non-vintage champagnes ( the 700 series ), as well as single-vineyard cuvées of remarkable complexity, produced in tiny quantities.
