Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG is an Italian appellation. Like its sister appellation, Chianti, it is considered one of the most prestigious in the country. The wines are produced in small quantities and are subject to very strict production rules. The Chianti Classico terroir is the heart of the appellation. Around this core area, a few vineyards are authorized to produce wines using the Chianti name. Chianti Classico Gran Selezione is distinguished by its significantly longer aging process compared to Chianti and Chianti Classico.
