The Château Calon-Ségur vineyard stretches across carefully selected plots, where the vines flourish in clay-limestone soils. This unique terroir, nourished by the maritime influences of the Atlantic, creates a microclimate ideal for cultivating high-quality grape varieties. The vines, some several decades old, are meticulously tended, promoting sustainable and responsible viticulture. The winemakers' painstaking work, combined with the richness of this soil, yields grapes of great complexity, a true reflection of their environment.

    Owner and history

Currently, Château Calon-Ségur is managed by the Capbern family, who have preserved the estate's heritage and reputation while instilling a modern vision. Their commitment to sustainable and responsible viticulture reflects a desire to respect the terroir and enhance the quality of their wines. Under their guidance, the estate's wines have evolved towards an even more precise expression of the Saint-Estèphe terroir, while maintaining meticulous attention to detail and authenticity. Their passion for wine is evident in every bottle, promising a memorable experience with every tasting.

    Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Calon-Ségur is a meticulous process, designed to preserve the integrity of the grapes while revealing the wine's aromatic potential. After a carefully executed hand-harvest, the grapes are destemmed and gently crushed. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, allowing for optimal temperature regulation. Aging occurs in oak barrels, some of which are renewed annually, promoting the subtle development of woody aromas. This aging process, which typically lasts several months, allows the wine to refine and develop its complexity before bottling.
