    Tasting notes

The 2021 Les Pagodes de Cos reveals a deep, intense garnet-red color. The nose opens with elegant aromas of black fruit, cedar, and sweet pepper. On the palate, the structure is silky, supported by fine tannins and well-integrated freshness. The balance is remarkable, revealing complex flavors of blackberry, licorice, and sweet spices. The persistent and refined finish confirms the aging potential of this fine vintage.

    Food & wine pairings

This wine pairs perfectly with a grilled rib of beef, a leg of lamb or a tournedos Rossini.

The Château Cos d'Estournel vineyard stretches across an exceptional terroir of deep gravel over a limestone subsoil, located on the hills above Saint-Estèphe, overlooking the Gironde estuary. This well-drained soil promotes optimal ripening of Cabernet Sauvignon, the dominant grape variety in the blend. The vines destined for Les Pagodes de Cos come from the estate's younger plots, cultivated with great respect for the environment according to the principles of sustainable agriculture.

    Owner and history

Since 2000, Château Cos d'Estournel has belonged to Michel Reybier, an entrepreneur with a passion for fine wines. Under his leadership, the estate has strengthened its position among the leading producers on the Left Bank by combining modern techniques with respect for tradition. His unwavering commitment to excellence, innovation, and sustainability has enabled Cos d'Estournel to reach new heights of quality. Les Pagodes de Cos fully benefits from this ambitious vision, offering a more accessible yet equally serious expression of the Grand Vin.

    Vinification and aging

At Château Cos d'Estournel, winemaking relies on precise and innovative methods. The grapes are sorted by hand, then vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, before traditional aging in French oak barrels for approximately 12 months, 30% of which are new oak.
For Les Pagodes de Cos 2021, this same requirement is applied, allowing the freshness of the vintage to be expressed while preserving the aromatic complexity and finesse of the wine.
