The Château Smith Haut Lafitte vineyard stretches across a magnificent terroir of Günzian gravel deposited over a clay-limestone subsoil, ideal for growing white grape varieties. The vines, averaging 38 years old, are cultivated using sustainable viticulture practices with meticulous attention to biodiversity. This respectful approach to living organisms allows the terroir's typicity to be fully expressed. Thanks to this mosaic of soils and a unique microclimate, the estate produces white wines of remarkable freshness and complexity.

Owner and history

Since 1990, Daniel and Florence Cathiard, former Olympic champions and passionate entrepreneurs, have been at the helm of Château Smith Haut Lafitte. Their bold vision, focused on excellence and respect for the terroir, has propelled the estate to the forefront of Bordeaux wines. By integrating environmentally conscious practices and constantly innovating, they have crafted characterful, authentic, and expressive wines. Their commitment is reflected in a perpetual quest for quality, a search for harmony with nature, and the creation of exceptional vintages like this magnificent 2024.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Smith Haut Lafitte is the result of extreme precision. The grapes are harvested by hand, carefully sorted, then fermented in barrels at low temperatures to preserve all their aromatic purity.
Château Smith Haut Lafitte 2024 Blanc is aged for 12 months in French barrels, a significant proportion of which are new, with regular stirring of the fine lees to bring roundness, complexity and length on the palate.
