Description

" Le Petit Cheval (Blanc) 2021 is fabulous. Silky and intensely aromatic, with tons of character, the 2021 is very distinguished. Pear, slate, mint, crushed stones, lime, and white pepper abound. All framed by lively acidity and superb saline nuances... What a wine! " Antonio Galloni, Vinous, 94 points/100

Produced under the Bordeaux Blanc Sec appellation, Le Petit Cheval - blanc is the fruit of an adventure and a challenge that Château Cheval Blanc embarked upon more than 10 years ago: to produce a truly great white wine on a terroir historically renowned for its red wines. Suffice it to say, it's a rare and exceptional bottle!

Le Petit Cheval Blanc is the very essence of the Cheval Blanc identity and comes from a plot entirely dedicated to its production. This 6.6-hectare vineyard was formerly the Tour du Pin vineyard. Benefiting from its own winemaking and aging facilities, Le Petit Cheval Blanc is made from a mosaic of 13 different plots , and the vines are planted in sandy and clay soils. It has aged for 22 months, mainly in casks and wood.

The Château Cheval Blanc vineyard is a true haven of biodiversity. The vines are cultivated in clay-gravel soils, ideal for the flourishing of the grape varieties. The temperate oceanic climate of the Bordeaux region promotes optimal grape ripening, resulting in wines of great finesse. The vines, some several decades old, are meticulously tended, respecting tradition while incorporating modern practices to preserve the balance of the ecosystem.

Owner and history
