The Château Prieuré-Lichine vineyard covers 78 hectares of gravelly slopes typical of the Margaux appellation. These soils promote optimal drainage, allowing the vine roots to draw out the full richness of the terroir. The influence of the Gironde estuary provides ideal climate regulation, promoting optimal grape ripening. The sustainable viticulture practices employed at the estate guarantee an authentic expression of the terroir and the preservation of the environment.

Owner and history

Since 1999, Château Prieuré-Lichine has been owned by the Ballande Group, a long-established player in the Bordeaux wine trade. Driven by the qualitative vision of Henri Lurton, and later Jean-Michel Laporte (former technical director of La Conseillante), the estate team has continuously invested in enhancing this iconic Margaux terroir. Modernizing the winery, meticulous vineyard management, and respecting the environment: everything is done to best express the legendary finesse of the appellation. The owners' commitment is reflected in exemplary consistency and wines that are both approachable in their youth and capable of aging gracefully.

Vinification and aging

The grapes are harvested by hand, with rigorous selection. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, allowing for a delicate extraction of aromas and tannins. The wine is aged for 12 to 16 months in French oak barrels, 40% of which are new, giving it structure and elegant oak character while respecting its fruit.
