The Château Mouton Rothschild vineyard spans 90 hectares northwest of Bordeaux, in a region blessed by nature. Its gravelly soils, composed of quartz and pebbles, ensure exceptional drainage and retain the heat necessary for optimal grape ripening. Predominantly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, with touches of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, the vineyard is cultivated with a constant focus on environmental responsibility. Each plot is meticulously tended, and the harvest is carried out by hand to preserve the quality of the grapes, which fully express the unique character of this exceptional terroir.

Owner and history

Château Mouton Rothschild has belonged to the Rothschild family since 1853, and today Philippine de Rothschild SA, headed by Julien de Beaumarchais de Rothschild, carries on the family legacy. A visionary, Baroness Philippine left her mark on her era through her passion for wine and art. The estate continues to innovate while respecting its identity, with a strong commitment to sustainable viticulture. Each vintage reflects this dedication to quality and this quest for excellence, embodied in wines that rank among the greatest in the world.

Vinification and aging

Château Mouton Rothschild blends tradition and modernity in its winemaking techniques. The grapes are carefully sorted before being vinified in tanks, ensuring optimal extraction of aromas and tannins. The aging process, essential to the wine's refinement, takes place exclusively in new French oak barrels for 18 to 22 months. This method imparts to the wine its remarkable structure, elegant oak notes, and exceptional aging potential.
