Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Calon Ségur is a meticulous process that begins with the hand-harvesting and careful sorting of the grapes. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, allowing for optimal temperature management. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged in oak barrels, some of which are new, for 12 to 18 months. This aging process imparts aromatic complexity and tannic structure to the wine, while preserving the pure expression of the terroir.
