Producer

Producer

The Château Calon-Ségur vineyard stretches across clay-limestone soils, typical of the Saint-Estèphe appellation. These soils, rich in minerals and nutrients, foster the growth of exceptional grape varieties. The oceanic climate, with its maritime influences, ensures a perfect balance between warmth and coolness, allowing the grapes to reach optimal ripeness. Viticulture is practiced with care, respecting natural cycles to guarantee the quality of the grapes.

Owner and history

Currently, Château Calon-Ségur is managed by the Capbern-Gasqueton family, who have maintained the heritage and excellence of this prestigious estate. Their commitment to quality and sustainability is reflected in every bottle. Through environmentally friendly viticultural practices and meticulous attention to every stage of production, they have elevated Calon-Ségur to the ranks of Bordeaux's great names, while preserving the authenticity of the terroir.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Calon-Ségur is a meticulous process, combining tradition and innovation. The hand-harvested grapes are rigorously sorted before being vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation takes place in barrels, which imparts complexity to the wine. Aging, lasting approximately 18 months in oak barrels, some of which are new, allows the aromas to develop and the tannins to integrate. The result is a structured, elegant, and promising wine.
