The Château Calon-Ségur vineyard stretches across gently rolling slopes, offering ideal sun exposure. The clay-limestone soils, rich in nutrients, ensure perfect drainage, essential for vine growth. Each grape variety finds its ideal terroir here, allowing for optimal grape ripening. The vineyard's biodiversity is preserved, contributing to the natural balance of the wine-growing ecosystem.

    Owner and history

Currently, the estate is managed by the Capbern family, who have successfully combined tradition and innovation. Under their guidance, Château Calon-Ségur has experienced a remarkable renaissance, emphasizing the values of authenticity and quality. The owners are committed to a sustainable approach, aiming to preserve the winemaking heritage for future generations, while continuing to produce exceptional wines that reflect the terroir of Saint-Estèphe.

    Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Calon-Ségur is carried out with respect for tradition, starting with a manual harvest of perfectly ripe grapes. After careful destemming, the berries are vinified in stainless steel tanks, allowing for precise temperature control. Aging takes place in oak barrels, some of which are new, to impart complexity and structure to the wine. This meticulous process allows the full richness of the terroir to be expressed, while preserving the identity of each grape variety.
