Château d'Issan, located in the heart of the Margaux appellation, has embodied the elegance of great Médoc wines for centuries. Classified as a Third Growth in 1855, this historic estate benefits from an exceptional terroir of Garonne gravel over a limestone subsoil. Its second wine, Blason d'Issan, expresses all the nobility of this great terroir in a more approachable style. Crafted with the same exacting standards as the grand vin, the 2015 Blason d'Issan captivates with its supple structure and charming fruitiness. This wine is a wonderful introduction to the finesse and depth of the Issan style.

The Château d'Issan vineyard covers approximately 59 hectares, located in the heart of the Margaux appellation, on the left bank of the Gironde estuary. The soil, composed of deep gravel and thin layers of clay, ensures excellent drainage and optimal ripening of the grapes. The vines destined for Blason d'Issan come primarily from younger plots, cultivated using sustainable viticulture practices to preserve the natural balance of the terroir and guarantee the quality of the fruit.

    Owner and history

Château d'Issan is now owned by the Cruse family, in partnership with Jacky Lorenzetti, who also owns several classified growths. Together, they are breathing new life into this historic estate while preserving its identity. Their commitment is reflected in meticulous work in both the vineyard and the cellar, striving to elevate each vintage. Thanks to this exacting vision, the estate continues to shine internationally, both for its flagship wine and its second wine, Blason d'Issan.

    Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château d'Issan relies on a traditional method, with rigorous plot selection. The grapes are destemmed and then fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve their aromatic freshness. The 2015 Blason d'Issan is aged for approximately 12 months in French oak barrels, a third of which are new, imparting complexity and roundness. This process ensures a wine that is approachable in its youth, while also giving it good aging potential.
