History of the Estate Mas de Daumas Gassac

the story of Mas de Daumas Gassac

      The Languedoc region

      the origin of wine

Withglacial scree soilsProfessor Enjalbert, a pioneer of "the origin of quality", indicates that this soil is comparable to the best terroirs of the Côte d'Or in Burgundy and will indicate that "a great cru can be created here but it may take 200 years before it is recognized and accepted as such!".

This deep soilallows the vine to descend to the lowest point to obtain nutrients. It is alsoperfectly drainedAndpoorThis requires the vine to suffer. This soil allows for the application ofcomplex aromas in wine.

THErespect for biodiversity, the planting ofold, non-cloned grape varietiesfrom all corners of the world that Aimé Guibert unearthed, and the desire to havelow yields; All of this contributes to the wine's aromatic richness.

The terroir is therefore a major asset for this estate which producesreal gemsin our glasses!

      The tradition

All the way to the wine cellar

As in the past, the grape harvest is carried outby handThis will contribute to the expression of the finest, sun-drenched grapes. Each vintage has its own unique characteristics, which is what makes these great wines so powerful and suitable for aging.

At the winery, it's in theunderground passages of a Gallo-Roman mill...which contains over four hundred Burgundy and Bordeaux oak barrels. One-seventh of the barrels are renewed each year. These underground cellars provide a consistent temperature and perfect humidity, allowing the wines to be stored in...the best conditions.
