Heritage and Spirit: "Innovation within Tradition"

Founded in 1881 by Anton Jermann, of Austrian origin, the domaine took a decisive turn in the 1970s under the impetus of Silvio Jermann.

  • The Breakup: Silvio revolutionized the region by moving away from heavy red wines to focus on whites of unprecedented purity and elegance.

  • The Style: Jermann wines are distinguished by their aromatic precision and their ability to age, defying the idea that Italian whites should be drunk young.

The Terroir: Between Collio and Isonzo

The vineyard extends over approximately 170 hectares, mainly distributed across two prestigious areas:

  • Collio: Characterized by the ponca (a soil composed of marl and sandstone from the middle of the Eocene). This unique soil brings a saline minerality and a complex structure to the wines.

  • Isonzo: Flatter areas with stony soils that promote aromatic concentration.

The Legendary Vintages

Jermann is famous for creating wines that have redefined the hierarchy of world white wines:

  • Vintage Tunina: A blend (Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Ribolla Gialla, Malvasia) often considered one of Italy's greatest white wines. It is intense, floral, and complex.

  • Dreams (Where the Dreams have no end...): A Chardonnay aged in oak barrels, a tribute to the music of U2, which rivals the greatest Burgundies in its balance and golden color.

  • Capo Martino: A more traditional wine, fermented in oak barrels, which expresses all the depth of the Collio terroir.

Sustainable Architecture

THE domaine has two main cellars: the historic cellar of Villanova and the new wine cellar Ruttars, inaugurated in 2007.

  • The organic approach: Jermann practices environmentally friendly agriculture, favouring natural cycles.

  • Design: The Ruttars winery is a model of landscape integration, built with natural materials to minimize visual and thermal impact.

Note :
In 2021, the famous family Antinori acquired a majority stake in the domaine, thus guaranteeing the sustainability and international reach of this brand while preserving the expertise of Silvio Jermann.
