A Terroir of Verticality
The Rectorie vineyard is characterized by its spectacular landscapes and extreme growing conditions:
-
The Shale Terraces: The vines are planted on steep slopes, structured by dry stone walls (the feixesHere, mechanization is impossible; everything is done by hand or with the help of mules.
-
Maritime Influence: The immediate proximity of the sea brings a healthy humidity and a salty freshness that balances the power of the Roussillon sun.
-
THE Climat : A generous amount of sunshine coupled with the Tramontane, this violent wind which cleanses the grapes but damages the vines.
The Philosophy of the Parcé Family: Authenticity and Mutation
THE domaine played a leading role in the recognition of Roussillon wines. Long confined to Vins Doux Naturels (VDN), the region has proven, thanks to estates like La Rectorie, that it can produce very great dry wines.
-
King grape varieties: THE Grenache is here sovereign (black, grey and white), complemented by Syrah and Carignan.
-
Respect for Time: The family favours long and precise aging processes, seeking to capture the purest expression of shale.
The Iconic Vintages
THE domaine excels in two distinct but complementary categories:
-
Collioure (Dry wines): Deep, mineral reds (like la cuvée The Oriental) and white wines of rare complexity, marked by notes of fennel and sweet spices.
-
Banyuls (Naturally Sweet Wines): La Rectorie is famous for its Banyuls of great character, ranging from the "Rimage" styles (fruity and intense) to the older oxidative versions, true cellar treasures.
Did you know that? The name "La Rectorie" refers to the Romanesque church of the same name located in Banyuls, highlighting the historical and spiritual roots of the domaine in his village.
