Aloxe-Corton
Aloxe-Corton is a Village appellation in the Côte de Beaune wine region. It forms the link between the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits. The vineyard benefits from a perfect location: between 200 and 300 meters above sea level, on soils rich in potassium and phosphoric acid, composed of silica and limestone. The limestone fragments are even called “ chaillots ” in the Burgundian dialect, a term used to describe several wines from the region.
The vineyard spans two communes ( Aloxe-Corton and Ladoix-Serrigny ) and includes 14 Premier Cru vineyards. The Aloxe-Corton and Aloxe-Corton Premier Cru appellations can be further specified by the name of their specific vineyard site, as with Aloxe-Corton Premier Cru 1er Cru Les Valozières from Domaine Chandon de Briailles . Red wines are the predominant type of wine produced throughout the Aloxe-Corton appellation. The 120.11 hectares are planted with Pinot Noir vines. Premier Cru vineyards account for 36.31 hectares of the total. White wines , made from Chardonnay, are produced but are very rare. The appellation has existed since 1938, and its Grand Cru vineyards have since acquired a very fine reputation.
- The style of the wines
Generally, these wines display a deep ruby color. When young, they offer aromas of small red or black fruits. With age, they can develop more floral, jammy, or spicy notes, always with fine tannins. Wines from this appellation benefit from being aged for three to five years to fully open up. They are renowned for their power, opulence, and generous character.
For food and wine pairings , we suggest choosing red meats in sauces or roasted poultry with a rich jus. Cheeses also pair very well. These wines should be served at a temperature of 15 to 16°C.
Domaine Tollot Beaut is located in Chorey-lès-Beaune, Burgundy . It has belonged to the Tollot family since the 19th century. A true benchmark in the region, the estate is cultivated using organic farming methods. Nathalie Tollot and her cousins Olivier and Jean-Paul currently make the wines on the vineyard. The high quality of the wines and the limited quantities of each vintage contribute to the interest of wine lovers in this estate.
Aloxe-Corton The wine is impressively rounded and elegant. It embodies the generosity of the appellation, combined with the fruitiness of the grape variety. A true success, resulting in an aging potential of over 5 years.
Domaine Antonin Guyon has existed since 1960 when Antonin, aged 55, purchased his first plots in the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. His son Dominique took over in 1970. He expanded the estate by acquiring 350 plots from 80 different owners. The vineyard now covers 22 hectares.
The Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru Les Fournières is located on a 1.35-hectare plot in the Côte de Beaune . The clay-limestone soil is ideal for Pinot Noir, which expresses itself with great balance and a very rich aromatic profile, promising interesting aging potential.
- Domaine Chandon de Briailles
The beautiful Domaine Chandon de Briailles estate has existed in the Côte de Beaune since 1834. It has remained in the same family since its founding. Today, Count and Countess Aymard-Claude de Nicolay and their children manage the property. The principles of biodynamic agriculture are respected, and the exceptional quality of their wines has established the estate as one of the appellation's leading producers.
Their Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru Les Valozières cuvée comes from a very small plot. Its nose of black fruit and flowers is a true delight. The palate is rich and fresh, with notes of black fruit and tobacco. The tannins are fine and crisp: a great success!
