Philippine de Rothschild: A great lady has left us
Baroness Philippine de Rothschild said goodbye to us
It is with sadness that we learned of the passing of Madame Philippine de Rothschild. This grande dame of the wine world left us at the age of 80.
A woman of character, she takes over the domaine family business following the death of Baron Philippe de Rothschild in 1988. She gave up her acting career to devote herself full-time to the management and development of the family's castles: Château Mouton-Rothschild, Château Clerc-Milon and Château d'Armailhac.
She will continue the international development begun by her father. In the United States, it is with Robert Mondavi in California that the Château Mouton-Rothschild joins forces to produce the magnificent Opus One. In Chile, it's with the domaine Concha Y Toro, the great Almaviva is produced.

In Bordeaux, she will bring modernity to the châteaux and rigorously select the artists who will have the privilege of representing the labels of Château Mouton-Rothschild every vintage. As an ambassador for her brand, we met her during the En Primeur tasting in March 2014.
A lady whose charisma radiated and commanded respect and admiration.
